Sound insulation material SGM Barrier Mix Prime
SGM Barrier Mix is a top membrane material of the latest generation from the top model line SGM Prime from 2020. With a thickness of only 6 mm, it enables sound insulation of up to 35 dB, which, together with Barrier Mix Profi, currently ensures the world's first place among anti-noise materials. The efficiency of SGM Barrier Mix was achieved thanks to the principle of absorption of resonant sound, which has not been used in the field of automotive sound insulation. A specially selected material composition with precisely calculated characteristics of the base layers also plays an essential role. Barrier Mix is composed of a 4 mm thick sound insulation layer and a 2 mm thick anti-noise membrane. Thanks to this, it fully replaces the second and third layers of soundproofing, thus saving installation time and, of course, its price. SGM membrane materials also perform a thermal insulation function thanks to their multi-layer structure with an acoustic membrane. Barrier Mix contains a waterproof upper layer with an anti-noise membrane, however, the soundproofing layer is not 100% waterproof and therefore we recommend this material mainly for the interior of the car. The extremely adhesive self-adhesive layer guarantees efficiency from -40 °C to +100 °C and the material maintains constant efficiency throughout the life of the vehicle.

Where to apply the SGM Barrier Mix material
Barrier Mix Prime is intended primarily for soundproofing the most noise-burdened areas, which are mainly the floor, the central tunnel, the rear skirts on the side of the trunk or the partition of the engine compartment. It is applied as a second layer to an anti-vibration material that prevents vibrations and noise at the lowest frequencies (e.g. SGM Dual Prime or SGM Onyx 3 ). Thanks to the multi-layer composition with a noise-reducing membrane and a thickness of only 6 mm, it is no longer necessary to apply a third layer of noise reduction, which is fully replaced by Barrier Mix, due to the extreme efficiency of the material (up to 35 dB).
