SGM Barrier Prime membrane material

SGM Barrier Prime is the top membrane material of the latest generation from the top model line of SGM Prime from 2020. With a thickness of 3 mm, it provides sound insulation of up to 34 dB when applied as a third layer of soundproofing. It is most often applied to SGM BB-Tone or SGM R-Tone material. The improved adhesive layer contributes to a perfect adhesion to the sound-insulating material and will enable the hernetic connection of the membrane into one layer, which will not allow moisture to penetrate into the noise-absorbing layer. SGM Barrier boasts the highest density of any insulating membrane on the market, which enables the high efficiency of this material. The material is of course 100% waterproof, does not absorb moisture and does not rot. The extremely adhesive self-adhesive layer guarantees efficiency from -40 °C to +100 °C and the material maintains constant efficiency throughout the life of the vehicle.

Where to apply the SGM Barrier Prime material

SGM Barrier Prime is applied to areas of the car with particularly high noise levels. A typical area is the floor, the center tunnel, the engine compartment or the rear wheel arches on the side of the trunk. It is applied as a third layer to a sound-insulating material (for example, SGM R-Ton), under which an anti-vibration material is applied in the first layer, which prevents vibrations and noise at the lowest frequencies (for example, SGM Dual Prime or SGM Onyx 3 ). You can also use it on membrane materials (for example SGM Barrier Mix) and thus maximize their effectiveness. Avoid application near highly heated areas such as the engine and exhaust system. The most common uses of SGM Barrier Prime sound insulation material:
