Sound insulation material SGM Barrier Ultra Prime

SGM Barrier Ultra is a top membrane material of the latest generation from the top model line SGM Prime from 2020. With a thickness of only 6 mm, it allows sound insulation of up to 33 dB, which ranks this sound insulation material among the most effective materials on the market. The effectiveness of SGM Barrier Ultra was achieved due to the multi-layered composition of the closed-cell material and correctly selected thicknesses and densities of individual layers with precisely calculated characteristics. Barrier Ultra is composed of a 4 mm thick sound insulation layer and a 2 mm thick anti-noise membrane. Thanks to this, it fully replaces the second and third layers of soundproofing, thus saving installation time and, of course, its price. SGM membrane materials also perform a thermal insulation function thanks to their multi-layer structure with an acoustic membrane. Barrier Ultra is 100% waterproof, does not absorb moisture and does not rot. That is why it is also suitable for wet environments, such as front wheel arches. The extremely adhesive self-adhesive layer guarantees efficiency from -40 °C to +100 °C and the material maintains constant efficiency throughout the life of the vehicle.

Where to apply the SGM Barrier Ultra material

Barrier Ultra Prime is intended primarily for soundproofing the most noise-laden areas, which are especially the front and rear wheel arches, the floor, the bottom of the luggage compartment, the central tunnel or the partition of the engine compartment. However, it can be used in most areas of the vehicle. It is applied as a second layer to an anti-vibration material that prevents vibrations and noise at the lowest frequencies (e.g. SGM Dual Prime or SGM Onyx 3 ). Thanks to the multi-layer composition with a noise-reducing membrane and a thickness of only 6 mm, it is no longer necessary to apply a third layer of noise reduction, which is fully replaced by Barrier Ultra, due to the extreme efficiency of the material (up to 33 dB). Acoustic Loss Factor (MLF)The acoustic loss factor (in English, mechanical loss factor) expresses the ability of the material to absorb propagating sound and change the energy of vibrations created by the sound into thermal energy.
