Sound insulation material SGM Silton

SGM Silton is a sound insulation material of the latest generation introduced in 2021. The greatest advantage of this membrane material is not only its high sound insulation capacity of up to 27 dB, but especially its thickness of only 4 mm. And why was Silton launched? In some areas of the vehicle, there may be a rare problem with the thickness of the materials in the second layer. Most often, this is the space under the rear seats and also the bottom of the luggage compartment. Usually, less effective materials are used for these areas, which can reduce the overall impression of soundproofing. Silton solves the aforementioned with an overview and, thanks to its multi-layer composition with an anti-noise membrane, perfectly soundproofs the given area. Silton is therefore composed of a 2 mm thick soundproofing layer and a noise-reducing membrane also 2 mm thick. Thanks to this, it fully replaces the second and third layers of soundproofing, thus saving installation time and, of course, its price. SGM membrane materials also fulfill a thermal insulation function, and Silton is of course 100% waterproof, does not absorb moisture and does not rot. The extremely adhesive self-adhesive layer guarantees efficiency from -40 °C to +100 °C and the material maintains constant efficiency throughout the life of the vehicle.

Where to apply SGM Silton material

Thanks to its record low thickness, SGM Silton is especially designed for soundproofing those areas where there may be a problem with the overall thickness of the materials or their weight. Typically, this is especially the space under the rear seats, or the bottom of the luggage compartment. However, it can be used in all areas of the car. It is applied as a second layer to an anti-vibration material that prevents vibrations and noise at the lowest frequencies (e.g. SGM Air 2 Prime or SGM Onyx 3 Prime ). Thanks to the multi-layer composition with a noise-reducing membrane and a thickness of only 4 mm, the high efficiency of the material (up to 27 dB) means that there is no need to apply a third layer of noise reduction, which Silton fully replaces.
